Welcome

We invite you to celebrate the flourishing of Argentine Tango in the UK at Bailongo! 2007.

Bailongo! is a vibrant tango festival set in the beautiful City of Edinburgh.

This year we can offer you:

  • 15 workshops at graduated levels

  • The Atemporal Tango Lounge - the heart of the festival where you can relax, dance, eat, drink and socialise between workshops.

  • Three nights of dancing, including The famous Edinburgh Winter Ball. This year the ball will feature live music from Mala Pinta.

Workshop Information

  • In the spirit of tango as a social and improvised dance, in all Bailongo! workshops there will be a policy of changing partners. Within this structure, those who book in couples will be given as much opportunity as possible to practice together.

  • After four sell-out years, we recommend that you book early. By booking before 16th November you can buy great value passes to get the most out of the weekend.

Beginners' Course

Alongside the main workshop programme, we also offer an intensive 3-hour beginners course split over the two days of the festival. This is for those who wish to try tango for the first time or who would like to go back to basics. This course will be given by Toby Morris.

Part 1 Saturday 5.00 - 6.30
Part 2 Sunday 5.00 - 6.30

Venue: Above the Forest Cafe, Bristo Place.

www.andresygenoveva.com.ar

Andrés and Genoveva represent the purest style of Argentine Tango. They have worked with orchestras such as Mariano Mores, Raul Garello and Sexteto Tango and have performed in many theatres internationally, working with dancers such as Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida, Roberto Herrera & Vanina Bilous, Gloria & Eduardo, Los Dinzel, Nelida & Nelson. romina +leandroRomina Godoy and Leandro Palou

www.tangosoul.co.uk

In 2006, Romina and Leandro set up a Tango School in the centre of London where they regularly teach the basis of traditional Argentine Tango. They continuously travel for performing and teaching in the UK and in Europe (participating in some of the biggest Tango Festivals), where they offer people their experience and knowledge of more than ten years dancing. Classes are focused on an understanding of good technique and the aesthetics, always in a fun and relaxed environment.

Jenny & Ricardo Jenny Frances and Ricardo Oria

www.rumbosdetango.com (this site)

Since beginning to work together in 2002, Jenny and Ricardo have performed and taught all over the UK, in Europe and in Argentina. They have developed a reputation as one of the leading tango couples in the UK.  Jenny and  Ricardo seek the timeless elements of tango; always creative and in tune with the dance's improvised nature. They have worked extensively with masters such as los Dinzel in Buenos Aires to further develop their dance and teaching.

MALA PINTA

www.malapinta.com

Mala Pinta plays Argentine tango-four musicians with a shared passion and international backgrounds. Deeply rooted in the rich history, Mala Pinta plays tango as "urban chamber music" in concert and dance halls. At once raw and refined, eclectic and earthy, the group plays tango in an honest and personal way. Since 2003 the band has evolved into one of the most appreciated dance orchestras in Europe.
